An Advanced Practitioner is a qualified registered nurse who has completed additional training, at Masters Level. They can assess, diagnose and treat patients autonomously within their own competence. This often involves prescribing medication, referring to other specialists and offering health promotion advice.

Having trained and worked in Nottingham as a registered nurse, Gavin relocated to the South Hams in 2015 where he continued to work in emergency care at Kingsbridge MIU prior to joining the surgery in 2016. Gavin works collaborative within the urgent care team providing on the day care. Whilst having a focus on complex diabetic patients and more recently supporting our local care homes with ward rounds. When Gavin is not working, he enjoys time gardening and spending time out exploring the south hams with his two supervisory spaniels Frank and Trixie.
