If you’re aware of practical issues that are causing a problem, there are services available to help with issues such as: financial, housing or social care issues. They can either provide guidance and information themselves or sign-post you to other services that can help.
Our Food Bank was established in 2012. Every Wednesday we provide bags of food to people who need them. All the food we hand out is either donated or bought with money given to us by individuals and local groups. On average we distribute 15 bags of food per week. Clients are referred to us by Health Visitors, GP's, Job Centres, Citizens Advice Bureau and other local agencies.
There are many reasons why people need our help: sickness, unemployment, relationship breakdown, low wages, seasonal jobs, delays to benefit payments, loss of free school meals during holidays, mental health problems or sheer bad luck... We don't judge. We help. All the staff are unpaid volunteers. Premises and equipment are provided at favourable rates
We help people find a way forward
We can all face problems that seem complicated or intimidating. At Citizens Advice South Hams, we believe no one should have to face these problems without good quality, independent advice.
That’s why we’re here: to give people the knowledge and the confidence they need to find their way forward – whoever they are, and whatever their problem.
